API passes the data directly through code. DataSet Bindings read an ADO.NET dataset directly, usually called data binding. The previous version can read from ADO record sets (equivalent to ADO.NET datasets). It can also read from other data bound objects provided by .NET. It can also read other formats such as XML files, collections, arrays, including an array of arrays and text files.
