The event cleaner in FileAudit allows you to delete historic file access events that are no longer needed depending on your organization and regulatory compliance policies.
Introduction
Hi everyone, welcome to the FileAudit Tutorial. Let’s see on this video how to clean the events history saved in your database. Click on the “Event Cleaner” tile from the FileAudit hub.
Explanation
You will find on the left part of the view different figures about the current state of the FileAudit database. If you decide that it’s time to clean your database, you can do this operation with the “One shot cleaning” feature. You can choose between two operations:
First operation: Erase records older than
Define the time from when you want to keep your file access event history. All records generated before this date will be deleted. To confirm a delete click on “Clean now”.
Second operation: Clear all records
The second operation as its name indicates will delete all events stored in the FileAudit database. Again, there is no possibility to cancel this action once you have validated it.
Scheduled cleaning
The “Scheduled cleaning” option allows you to define and schedule the same operations automatically over regular intervals. Select the desired operation. Precise again the number of days you want to keep a history of events if you select “Erase records older than”. You can choose to schedule this action weekly or monthly.
“Weekly” option
Choosing “Weekly” reveals the day names with corresponding switches to enable the task for this day. Green denotes that the task will be executed on that day. Set the start time as desired.
“Monthly” option
The “Monthly” option offers two modes: “Days of month” allows selection of specific days to execute clean up, “Week of month” allows selection of a target week for scheduled clean-up, and requires further specification of the day during the chosen week that the task will be executed. Again don’t forget to set the start time as you wish. The task is automatically created and configured.
Finally
Click on the “Back” arrow to return to the FileAudit hub. If for any reason you need to delete the scheduled task, just go back to the event clean view and switch off the Scheduled task. This will delete it.
