With the AI-powered chatbox ChatGPT hitting the mainstream, many tech giants like Google and Baidu are announcing their plans to make similar technology to join the competition.Â

ChatGPT’s automation can help companies access, process, and analyze large amounts of data in real time. And helps companies reduce repetitive tasks with efficient automation and improve customer services with more natural and human-like interactions. We can use its algorithms to detect real-time threats accurately and reduce the risk of false positives, allowing us to respond faster when a security breach occurs.
Potential Harm from ChatGPT
As ChatGPT has a growing influence on the cybersecurity world, many cybersecurity experts warn about the potential threats these AI tools can cause. According to BlackBerry’s recent survey, out of 1,500 IT and cybersecurity decision-makers, 51% believe a successful cyberattack attributed to ChatGPT will occur within a year. And 71% think nation-states may even use ChatGPT maliciously.
The danger of this AI tool is its ability to build paragraphs with clarity and logic, like a real human being, making it hard to determine whether the content is legitimate and accurate. Attackers can use the tool to create phishing scams and write malware, and they can even build a malicious program that would cause ChatGPT to give biased answers to users. And as this tool gathers its users’ personal data, there is a risk of data breach and misuse of sensitive data.
Never Trust. Always Verify
Organizations must move to a zero-trust security environment to create connectivity that a remote working world can trust. A zero-trust model centers on the belief that organizations should not automatically trust anything inside or outside their perimeters but must verify anything – apps, devices, networks, and people.
It considers not only traditional login credentials, biometric authentication, contextual factors such as location and device, and even behavioral profiling such as hand-eye coordination, individual scrolling patterns, and other user norms.
Zero Trust draws on technologies such as multifactor authentication, contextual access restrictions, monitoring and alerts, file system permissions, file access alerts, etc. Zero Trust also calls for governance policies such as giving users the least access they need to accomplish a specific task.
